Goa has declared cancer a Notified Disease under the Goa Public Health Act, 1985. Under the new directive, government and private hospitals, clinics, laboratories and oncologists must report newly diagnosed cancer cases to the Directorate of Health Services within 7 to 30 days.
The initiative aims to establish a State Cancer Registry for better monitoring and planning of cancer-related healthcare services, while ensuring that all patient information remains confidential.
