The Nisarg Club of Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim, in association with the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC), organised an organic colour making workshop, titled ‘Eco-Rang: Creating Colours from Nature’ on 17 February 2026 in the college.

The workshop was organised under the guidance of Dr Uaddhav Pol, convenor of Nisarg Club, and Rudresh Mhamal, convenor of the Institutional Innovation Council.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The programme began with an introduction to the workshop by Mhamal, who highlighted the importance of eco-friendly innovations and sustainable practices. He emphasised how natural colours are safe, environmentally friendly, and aligned with traditional Indian knowledge systems.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr Arun Marathe, Head of the Department of Commerce. In his speech, he explained the concept of Panch Mahabhute (the five elements — earth, water, fire, air, and space) and connected it to the importance of maintaining harmony with nature. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Nisarg Club and IIC in promoting environmentally responsible practices.

The introduction of the resource person was done by Kimaya Parab, a Second Year student, who highlighted the experience and expertise of the guest.

The resource person, Suryakant Gaonkar, conducted an engaging and informative hands-on training session. Students actively participated in preparing natural colours using turmeric, beetroot, spinach, flowers, and other herbal ingredients. The session provided practical exposure to eco-friendly colour preparation methods.
