Fatorda Veterans reach semifinals
VERNA: Fatorda Veterans registered a convincing 4–0 win over Panchwadi Veterans to book a place in the semifinals of the All-Goa 8-a-side veterans football tournament. The event was organised by the Ex-Footballers of Verna and is being played at the Verna panchayat ground.
Francisco Andrade of Fatorda Veterans was named man of the match.


St Xavier’s Mapusa clinch Goa University best physique title
PANJIM: St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, emerged overall champions at the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Best Physique (Men) Championships 2025–26, held at the university campus in Taleigao. The championships were organised by Goa University.
VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, finished runners-up, while PG Goa University secured third place. The ‘Goa University Shree’ title for 2025–26 was won by Guruprasad Ghadi of Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar.

  • Up to 60 kg: Ashwet Pilankar (Goa College of Engineering)

  • Up to 65 kg: Guruprasad Ghadi (Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar)

  • Up to 70 kg: Anurag Parab (St Xavier’s College, Mapusa)

  • Up to 75 kg: Mrunal Desai (PCCE College, Verna)

  • Up to 85 kg: Sanjeev Revodkar (PG Goa University)

  • Above 85 kg: Marc Souza (VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar)


Sanjana wins three medals at inter-university swimming meet
PANJIM: Goan swimmer Sanjana Prabhugaonker delivered a strong performance, winning two silver medals and one bronze while representing Christ University, Bengaluru, at the All India Inter-University Swimming and Diving (Men & Women) Championship 2025–26. The event was held at the SRM Aquatics Complex in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Sanjana finished second in the 100 m and 200 m backstroke events and added a bronze medal in the 50 m backstroke.


IM Ethan Vaz claims national junior chess title
PANJIM: Goa’s IM Ethan Vaz was crowned National Junior Champion at the 54th National Junior Chess Championship held in Jamshedpur.
The tournament was organised by the Seraikela-Kharsawan District Chess Association on behalf of the Jharkhand Chess Association and the All-India Chess Federation.
Top seed Ethan Vaz (ELO 2500) defeated second seed IM Md Imran (2473) of Andhra Pradesh in the ninth round, and IM Mayank Chakraborty (2465) of Assam in the seventh round.
Mayank Chakraborty finished second, while Vignesh Vemula of Telangana took third place. Another Goan, Sai Prabhakaran R, finished 112th.
