Why is the ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ India release delayed?

The Indian release of 'Godzilla Minus Zero' could be delayed by around two weeks

The Indian theatrical release of Godzilla Minus Zero could be postponed by two weeks as the film seeks to avoid a clash with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s highly anticipated Ramayana: Part One.

The Japanese monster movie was initially scheduled to arrive in Indian cinemas on November 6, just one day after Ramayana: Part One opens on November 5. However, the release plan may now change to improve the film’s chances of securing premium cinema screens across the country.

The reported postponement is aimed at protecting the film’s box-office potential. Ramayana, which is expected to be among the year’s biggest Indian releases, could occupy a significant number of premium large-format (PLF) screens, including IMAX theatres. This could leave limited screening opportunities for Godzilla Minus Zero if both films release around the same time.

Ramayana is likely to retain its announced November 5 release date, while Godzilla Minus Zero could reach theatres two weeks later.

The proposed schedule change follows a similar release strategy reportedly adopted for Project Hail Mary, which was rescheduled to arrive two weeks after Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

If confirmed, the revised window could help Godzilla Minus Zero secure better access to premium screens and attract audiences without directly competing with one of India’s most anticipated cinematic releases.
